BIOGRAPHY

Michal Drabczyk is a Polish composer and producer. He has composed original songs and scores for such platforms as Netflix, Warner Group and Audible as well as over 15 films and documentaries in Poland. Leveraging his experiences as a performing electronic artis, MiIchal developed a unique and futuristic sound palette, deeply rooted in expressive melodies of Polish music that he listened to growing up. He is no stranger to orchestral or gentle piano pieces but is always able to transform the listener into a previously unknown sonic dimension.
Michal started music at age of 10, when introduced to the diverse and ever-surprising music of David Bowie, The Beatles and Pink Floyd - passion that would eventually bring him to London as a teenage punk rocker. After listening to Pink Floyd’s ‘The Wall’ as a young boy, he realised that ‘there is nothing you cannot do music’ - a principle that guides him to this day.
As a young guitarist with no formal musical education he quickly discovered the power of computer music production. He decided to replace classical training with countless hours of studio experimentation following the footsteps of his rock idols. Hundreds if not thousands of tracks later he finally made his way into the world of film music where his computer production skills proved to be priceless. He scored his first film in collaboration with the world famous Lodz Film School in 2013 while studying audio engineering in the UK. He very quickly started paying his dues as a young composer, working with graduate directors from all Polish film schools. In 2019, he made his full-length documentary debut with “Shadows of the Empire,” produced by the largest Polish film studio “KADR.” This milestone opened doors to numerous scoring projects for Polish National Television, various TV documentaries. Drabczyk also gained valuable experience in theater and dance theater, where he developed a taste for avant-garde music. Later, he secured his first synchronization deals with the largest Polish TV station TVN and Audible Germany.
In paralle, Michal became active in his local techno under the alias scene “Michael Warren” where he developed a signature live-act show. He spent a few years performing amongst DJs for energy-hungry crowds while gradually introducing more melodic and vocal based production into his sets. He released his debut series of EPs and singles on the acclaimed, Berlin-based, techno label Steyoyoke. Eventually he made his way into large Polish clubs and festivals and is now regularly opening for international headliners such as Adana Twins and Fur Coat.
Having a ‘proper job’ for most of his 20s, in 2022 Michal made the difficult decision to pursue his business career and moved to one of US’s most musical cities: Seattle. However, the challenges of having two careers did not discourage him. He quickly rented an industrial space in a building that had served as a prison since the XIX century in the heart of the industrial district. That’s where he continued to score films for Polish directors as well as release electronic music, going as far as traveling to Poland to perform occasional shows.
Unfortunately the inevitable crush and burnt-out finally caught-up with Michal. After a year of battling with a personal crisis he made a hard decision to give up on his successful career in America and follow his childhood love for music full time. Here’s life took another unexpected turn, just a year after returning to Poland, he secured a deal to write and produce an album worth of songs for an Netflix Original series in South America as part of a music-production trio: SISU]. To top that, the trio joined forces with an acclaimed Latin-Grammy winner who recorded their title track in Mexican Spanish and added it to her live-repetuar.
Encouraged by the power of following your passion - Michal is now actively engaged in multiple projects across Europe and is actively pursuing scoring and performance opportunities in the UK and US.
